Hello prospective students! My name is Patrick Probst. I have lived in Missouri my entire life but I completed my undergrad at SMU in Dallas, TX. So, when I got accepted to Mizzou I was thrilled to be able to come back home to Missouri! As I am sure is the case with many of you, I applied to over a dozen medical schools across the country and interviewed from coast to coast. I was always nervous about choosing the right school but I have to say that Mizzou is the perfect fit.
My acceptance into Mizzou was rather unique. I was taken off of the wait list and had to make an enrollment decision within 48 hours. I went back and forth weighing my options but ultimately decided to give the University of Missouri a chance. Here's why: I absolutely loved the community and family feel that Mizzou offers. The school of medicine is located within the undergrad campus so it is easy to access the rec center, play intramurals, attend religious services with classmates, and stay involved in a "college" atmosphere. Also, the peer relationship between the administration and the students was noticeable and something I wanted in my education. Another reason I chose Mizzou is because the curriculum is extremely interesting and demanding. Each week we are given an actual patient case to manage and diagnose by the end of the week. This affords all students, from day 1, the opportunity to apply their knowledge to a clinical setting instead of to a test. By shaping the curriculum in this manner, it is easy to stay engaged and motivated to study. Finally, Mizzou offers one of the most competitive tuition rates in the country. Because most of our textbooks are also online, prices and fees aren't substantial either.
I am very happy with the decision I made to go to school at MU. I love being a student here and I think you will too! If you need any more information or have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email (email@example.com). Good Luck and Go Tigers!
