Timothy Fete, MD
Medical Director of MU Children's Hospital
Timothy Fete, MD, is chair of the Department of Child Health and Children’s Miracle Network Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He also is medical director of MU Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Fete has played a leadership role in MU’s move to consolidate Children’s Hospital services under one roof, creating a new Children’s Hospital at Columbia Regional Hospital. MU Children's Hospital includes 100 percent private rooms for 27 children and 16 adolescents , as well as 14 private patient rooms in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and a 44-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Children’s Blood Disorders and Cancer Unit, pediatric short-stay unit, pediatric cardiology and Pediatric and Adolescent Specialty clinics also opened in the new location. Children from every county in Missouri and beyond receive services from MU pediatric specialists in both Columbia and at outreach clinics throughout the state.
Dr. Fete received his Medical Degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1977. He went on to complete a Residency and Fellowship in Ambulatory Pediatrics at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. In 1998, he received a master’s degree in public health from St. Louis University. Dr. Fete came to MU from the St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he served as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, Director of the General Academic Pediatrics Division, and Interim Director of the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Division. He had been with St. Louis University and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center since 1990.
Before joining St. Louis University’s faculty, Dr. Fete was a National Health Service Corps Medical Director in Tooele, Utah, and a Pediatrician at Colorado Springs Medical Center. He has received numerous awards for medical education, and he has held several leadership roles with the Academic Pediatric Association.
