Clinical Services
University Dermatology ClinicUniversity Dermatology clinics are held daily in the University Physicians' Medical Building located adjacent to University Hospital. We serve patients of all ages and provide them with the highest quality of medical and surgical treatment for diseases of skin, hair and nails. We treat a wide variety of pediatric and adult dermatologic diseases, including acne, eczema, skin infection, hair loss, psoriasis, rosacea, skin ulcers, skin cancers, warts and contact dermatitis. We also offer cosmetic services including botulinum toxin, phototherapy, laser treatments, sclerotherapy and chemical peels. For an appointment in dermatology clinics, please call: 573-882-4800.University Pediatric Dermatology ClinicThe only board certified Pediatric Dermatologists in Mid-Missouri, Jon A. Dyer, MD and Kari Martin, MD offer appointments for pediatric patients every day of the week. We provide the highest quality of medical and surgical treatment for diseases of skin, hair and nails in infants, children, and adolescents. We treat a wide variety of pediatric dermatologic diseases, including acne, eczema, pigmented and blood vessel birthmarks, skin infections, hair loss, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), psoriasis, molluscum, warts, contact dermatitis and a variety of other childhood rashes. Our faculty are recognized for their special expertise in the diagnosis and care of inherited skin diseases and a wide variety of vascular birthmarks and malformations. We also offer botulinum toxin therapy for excessive sweating, phototherapy, and pulsed dye laser therapy for vascular birthmarks among other procedures. For a pediatric dermatology appointment, please call: 573-882-4800.Dermatology Surgery and MOHS Surgery ClinicsThe Mohs Micrographic Surgery clinic is located in the University Physicians Medical Building adjacent to the general dermatology clinic. Our patients with aggressive and complex skin tumors receive exceptional operative care and residents receive an accomplished education in operative dermatology and Mohs surgery. In addition to treatment of skin cancers, this unit provides the setting for the cosmetic clinic. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital is located directly across the street from University Hospital. Dermatology clinics provide our veterans with outstanding medical and surgical dermatologic care. Although the focus of these clinics centers on prevention and treatment of skin cancer, we welcome veterans with any dermatologic concerns. The Veterans' Clinic is operated by both residents and attending physicians with a parallel suite open for surgical procedures. Call 573-816-4120 for appointments.Inpatient ConsultationsThe dermatology department provides a consultation service for all inpatients in the University Hospital, Ellis Fischel Cancer Wing, Veterans Hospital, Missouri Psychiatric Center, and Health South Rehabilitation Center. All consults are seen and staffed promptly, so as to provide the consulting team with the most accurate diagnosis and treatment.Outpatient ConsultationsIn addition to patients who are currently admitted to our hospital system, the dermatology department provides a consultation service to all outpatient clinics including general Medical Specialty, Pediatric and Neonatal,and Surgical Specialty clinics; emergency room consults, and urgent care consults, both at University and Veterans Hospital. Our residents are assured to receive exposure to a wide variety of dermatologic diseases, while patients are ensured to receive the best quality of care.Telemedicine ClinicsThe Department of Dermatology is proud to have one of the most experienced Live Interactive/Hybrid Teledermatology Clinics in the United States. Through the use of the latest telecommunications technology, we are able to see and treat patients in distant Missouri counties who would otherwise be unable to receive a Dermatologist's care. These clinics operate weekly under the direction of Karen Edison, MD and Jonathan Dyer, MD. For more information, please contact Melody at 573-882-4800.For further Telemedicine information: telehealth.muhealth.org Ellis Fischel Outpatient Dermatology Clinic RotationEllis Fischel Cancer Center is a freestanding facility (part of the University of Missouri Health Care) located approximately two miles northwest of the main campus. An outpatient Dermatology clinic was reestablished at Ellis in 2004. Patients are referred for potentially infectious disease in immunocompromised patients, skin examination for malignant melanoma or other cutaneous malignancy, suspected cutaneous (skin) cancer or metastasis, HIV/AIDS related skin conditions, and cutaneous drug related reactions. General dermatology patient concerns and skin cancer screening are addressed as well. Clinic appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to Noon.
