MU Associate Dean to Lead Group in Improving Medical School Education


Hoffman named president-elect of medical education society

Kimberly Hoffman, PhD, associate dean for learning strategies and associate professor of family and community medicine at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, was recently chosen as president-elect of the Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education.

The Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education is dedicated to enhancing the quality of education in medical schools. It is comprised of directors of units with responsibility for educational research, evaluation and program development. The society promotes research in medical education, collaboration among its members and with other organizations, professional development for its members, and the development of research units in medical education.

Hoffman received her doctorate in educational leadership and policy analysis at MU, as well as completing undergraduate and graduate studies at the university. Prior to her current position, she served as assistant and then associate dean for education evaluation and improvement at MU's medical school. She has held leadership roles on a number of grants and research awards focused on medical education. Hoffman currently serves on the membership committee for the Society of Directors of Research in Medical Education and is on the group on educational affairs for the Association of American Medical Colleges.
