Raza Named Outstanding Fellow by Missouri Oncology Society


Contributions to the field recognized at annual conference

Shahzad Raza, MD, a post-doctoral fellow in the University of Missouri School of Medicine's Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and physician with Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, has been named a recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Fellow Award by the Missouri Oncology Society.

Raza received the award at the Missouri Oncology Society's annual conference Nov. 8 in St. Louis. The award recognizes significant contributions to the field of oncology. At the conference, he presented his research on increasing the survival rates of patients with brain cancer using the drug Avastin.

The Missouri Oncology Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 2002. The Missouri Oncology Society promotes excellence in the care of patients with cancer and hematological disorders. Its members are physicians, nurses, pharmacists, practice administrators, billers, coders and health care members dedicated to the care of cancer patients.
