Summer Opportunities Available for High School Students Interested in Health Care Professions

Program helps students in career planning

The University of Missouri School of Medicine is accepting applications for the Mizzou MedPrep Explorations program, which is designed for high school juniors and seniors considering careers in health care.

The three-week online workshop is scheduled June 1-19, with a one-day, on-campus event Wednesday, June 10.

A unique learning experience designed to help high school students make career choices, the summer session will include an overview of the medical profession, physician specialties and subspecialties, health professions, admission requirements and a medical school tour.

There are no prerequisites to take part in the workshop, and it is open to a wide range of participants.

The application fee is $25 plus a workshop fee of $25, covering the cost of instructional materials for the online workshop and on-site session, plus one meal.

Some scholarships are available to cover the workshop costs. Application forms for the scholarships will be available when admission notices are released.
