This site was developed by Dr. Sonny Bal at the University of Missouri, with the help of many other dedicated professionals. The content here is always being updated, so that Dr. Bal and his team can share what we know, answer your questions, and ensure successful hip or knee replacement surgery.
Patients who are informed and take the time to understand what surgery is all about typically have the best outcomes. Information here is designed in a user-friendly, easy-to-understand format s that our patients can choose wisely, and make the best decisions when it comes to hip or knee replacement surgery.
Dr. Bal performs over 500 hip and knee replacement surgeries, and hundreds more arthroscopic and related operations on the hip and knee joints each year. He is active in orthopaedic research, professional writing, teaching, training future orthopaedic surgeons, and a health care law practice. Patients with straight-forward hip and knee arthritis, and many complex cases with previous, failed hip and knee replacements are referred to us from across Missouri and other states. Our interest is in continually refining and developing the future techniques and technologies in hip and knee surgery.
This site is not a marketing effort, nor is it sponsored by anyone. All content here was developed by Dr. Bal himself for your use. Our goal is to share information acquired from our education, training, and experience. We want our patients to be active partners in treating their hip and knee problems. Print and online copies of our hip and knee replacement books, for example, have had great feedback from patients
