Employment Opportunities

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Missouri invites qualified applicants to apply for positions in Foot & Ankle, Hand, Joints, Spine, Sports and Research. The Department is also seeking applicants for a full-time trauma position at the new CoxHealth Emergency and Trauma Center, in Springfield MO.

Due to our recent growth locally along with outreach facilities, leadership's aggressive plans for continued expansion, and the opening of two new state-of-the-art facilities, our department will be further increasing our strong complement of surgical orthpaedists. The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, which is the largest freestanding and most comprehensive orthopaedic surgical center in the region, opened in June 2010. With clinics, operating rooms and private overnight patient rooms under one roof, along with some of the most progressive technology available, we can provide comprehensive orthopaedic care in one location.

Joining a large academic group practice offers numerous benefits:

  • Lucrative Financial and Benefits Package
  • Faculty appointment at rank of Professor, Associate, or Assistant Professor
  • Combination of Clinical and Academic Medicine
  • Resources for clinical and basic science research
  • Strong residency and fellowship programs

University of Missouri Health Care was the only hospital in Columbia or central Missouri to make US News and World Report's prestigious list of best hospitals. University of Missouri Health Care was ranked second in the state out of more than 100 hospitals in Missouri. Columbia, home of the University of Missouri, was listed in the book 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family and has been consistently recognized by national magazines such as Consumer's Digest and Money as one of the top places to live in the U.S. Most people who choose to reside in this college town of 110,000 residents think of it as having the best of both worlds – small town convenience and warmth with big-city sophistication and amenities. With a remarkably low cost of living compared to many U.S. cities, Columbia allows for a lifestyle that you might not find in other areas. To apply for this position, please visit the MU web site at www.hrs.missouri.edu/find-a-job/academic
