Full Biography

Dr. Ferris Pfeiffer is a proud alumnus of the University of Missouri, having attended MU for his undergraduate, masters, and doctorate degrees. He majored in mechanical engineering for all three. While working on his doctorate, Dr. Pfeiffer worked as Chief Engineering Consultant for Brenoak Labs LLC, where he provided engineering analysis and design of new and existing medical devices.

In 2007, once having completed his doctorate program, Dr. Pfeiffer founded Pfeiffer Engineering, LLC, where he serves as CEO. As CEO, his roles include consulting engineering design, testing, and analysis services focusing on clinical orthopaedic biomechanics. In 2010 Dr. Pfeiffer was hired on as head of Biomechanics and Bioengineering of Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory, working alongside Dr. Jimi Cook, and was appointed to Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Biological Engineering in 2012.

His current areas of research include spine and biomechanical studies in Orthopaedics. Additionally, Dr. Pfeiffer worked as an auto mechanic for Pfeiffer's Texaco in Boonville, Missouri. He has over 15 refereed papers, presented at nearly 40 conferences, over $300,000 in research funding, and holds 5 US Patents. Additionally, Dr. Pfeiffer is one of the first Mizzou Advantage Scholars with a joint faculty-appointment with the departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biological Engineering, and College of Veterinary Medicine (Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory).
