MUPC - The Department of Psychiatry's main offices are located in the Missouri University Psychiatric Center (MUPC), which is contiguous with the University Health Sciences Center, adjacent to the main campus of the University in the city of Columbia. Full-time, regular faculty have their offices at MUPC, or at the Department's Green Meadows outpatient clinic, located a few miles from MUPC.
In additon to MUPC and the Green Meadows clinic, the Department also utilizes several other care facilities to train its residents and fellows, including the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, the Royal Oaks Hospital, and Fulton State Hospital. Many of the psychiatrists and psychologists who staff these facilities carry adjunct faculty appointments.

FULTON STATE HOSPITAL - Fulton State Hospital is located in Fulton, Missouri, about 30 miles from the MU Health Sciences Center. The hospital is located on a large campus which includes a 200 bed facility that comprises the state of Missouri's only maximum security psychiatric facility. Second and fourth year residents spend time at Fulton, and the Department also operates a forensic psychiatric fellowship which is headquartered there.

ROYAL OAKS/PATHWAYS - Royal Oaks Hospital, located in the rural community of Windsor, Missouri, is a 41-bed behavioral health hospital that provides comprehensive services for children, adolescents and adults. The Hospital has been  an important training venue for the Department’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training program for several decades. Many of the attending psychiatrists at Royal Oaks carry adjunct faculty appointments , and as such they serve an important role in the Department’s educational mission.

V.A. - The Harry S. Truman Memorial VA hospital is located directly across Hosptial Drive from MUPC. The Truman VA has 120 inpatient beds, 12 of which are a dedicated  psychiatry inpatient service, and a staff of 8 psychiatrists.  Most of these individuals carry adjunct appointments as faculty in the Department of Psychiatry. Treatment services at the VA include the following:
Addictions Treatment Program
The Addictions Program at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital (HSTMVH) is an intensive outpatient lodger program with a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach. Staff consist of  a multidisciplinary team providing consultative services, diagnostic decision-making, and development of treatment plans. There is an emphasis on clinical interviewing, assessment, and individual and group psychotherapy.  The treatment program serves a primarily male population with a mean age of approximately 45. Approximately 40-60 percent of the clients have a psychiatric diagnosis in addition to substance dependence. Additional diagnoses include anxiety disorders, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.
Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Unit
The Acute Psychiatric Care Unit (APCU) is a 12-bed locked unit that provides intensive care for Veterans who present with a variety of Psychiatric concerns.  Criteria for admission is primarily associated with concerns regarding a patient’s safety identified through suicidal and/or homicidal ideation or behavior, and/or with evidence of acute emotional decompensation marked by functional impairment.  Admissions to the unit can be voluntary, by guardian, or by commitment.  Average length of stay is 7-10 days, and all patients are assessed for appropriate discharge follow-up services soon after admission.
