Laine Young-Walker, MD '97

Laine Young-Walker, MD '97, is chief of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. She also serves as training director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at MU.

After graduating from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Dr. Young-Walker completed residency training in psychiatry and afellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the MU School of Medicine. She served as associate medical director for the Missouri Department of Mental Health and as associate training director for MU's division of child and adolescent psychiatry before joining the Department of Psychiatry faculty in 2009.

Dr. Young-Walker has a research interest in early childhood mental health, trauma and post- traumatic stress disorders. She serves as principal investigator for Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children's Health), a project funded by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. As one of six sites awarded funding in 2010, the federal program makes $3.25 million available to MU and its partner agencies over five years to foster the healthy development and wellness of an estimated 1,200 Boone County children by preparing them to excel in school and beyond.

Dr. Young-Walker serves as chair of the MU Health System Diversity Advisory Council. She is a member of the Missouri Medicaid Drug Prior Authorization and Missouri Medicaid Non-Pharmaceutical Mental Health Prior Authorization Advisory committees and a member of the Missouri Autism Guidelines Initiative Workgroup. She also serves as a member of the Infant and Preschool Committee for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and is a member of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Medical Student Education (CAPME) Task Force.
