At the University of Missouri, the pursuit of scientific breakthroughs often involves the public’s involvement. With Participate in Discovery, you can be a part of the university’s mission to improve the lives of Missourians.

What Participation Means

By joining Participate in Discovery, individuals express a willingness to be contacted about studies that match their interests. To enroll, participants answer questions about their general background and lifestyle habits and select topics of interest, ranging from autism to weight loss. This information is then used to match participants with studies that might match their interests.

Involvement in a study could mean answering questions by telephone or on a computer, or coming to the university and participating in-person. If and how people participate is entirely up to them.

Participate in Discovery is for everyone. There are no costs involved and, at any time, participants can have their name removed from the list. All participant information is stored on highly secure computers, and data transmissions are encrypted.

Joining Participate in Discovery provides a valuable service to the University of Missouri. Participants support the university’s mission to improve the lives of Missourians and can feel satisfaction from participating in scientific breakthroughs.
