Research Interests

All of my research is coordinated through the Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics, which I direct. Our research is focused on osteoarthritis, articular tissue regeneration and sports medicine treatment strategies. Our work includes in vitro and in vivo methodologies. Specific avenues of research include cell and tissue culture, osteoarthritis models, meniscal replacement and regeneration, articular cartilage resurfacing, creation of functional growth plates, biomarkers, and biologic joint restoration strategies. Laboratory assessment modalities include a wide range of techniques from the DNA and mRNA level to biomechanical testing and clinical trials. Current funding is both extramural and intramural.
