Last Monday, October 28th, 2019, the IMSD program held a Draft Poster Session for the 18 IMSD Fellows and Apprentices selected to present their research posters at this year’s Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) conference.
Our IMSD Scholars presented drafts of their posters to over 50 MU faculty, staff and graduate students and were given feedback for their final presentations. This year ABRCMS is in Anaheim, California and is happening next Wednesday, November 13th through Sunday, November 17th. We have a group of 23 IMSD Fellows and Apprentices traveling to California to attend the conference this year, 18 of which submitted abstracts and were accepted to present.
The Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), is one of the largest communities of underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students attend this conference to present their research, enhance professional development skills, explore graduate schools, and network. During the four-day conference, over 2,500 students from over 350 colleges and universities participate in poster and oral presentations in twelve STEM disciplines. Mizzou IMSD has had at least one student receive national recognition awards for their posters at ABRCMS every year for the last 7 years (a total of 15)!
