Raghav Govindarajan, MD, assistant professor of neurology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and neurologist at MU Health Care, has been selected as a 2017 recipient of the Exceptional Mentor Award by the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).
The award celebrates those who have benefited the lives of students studying medicine. The honor recognizes mentors who have gone above and beyond in the education of medical students.
Govindarajan will be recognized during the AMWA 102nd Anniversary Meeting on April 1 in San Francisco. He was selected based on a nomination from an MU medical student and AMWA members.
“Training the next generation of physicians is a great privilege and responsibility,” Govindarajan said. “To be recognized by our students and the AMWA truly is an honor. I’m proud that my mentorship helps our students develop into patient-centered caregivers.”
In addition to receiving the Exceptional Mentor Award, Govindarajan also has received the 2017 Clerkship Director Teaching Award by the American Academy of Neurology. The award will be presented during the academy’s annual meeting on April 24 in Boston.
In 2016, Govindarajan received the National Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence by the American Medical Student Association.
