Two professors of Orthopaedic Surgery at MU are among 182 surgeons recognized in the top 1% of orthopedic research all-stars by Avant-Garde Health.
Avant-Garde Health recently released its Healthcare Research All-Stars 2024 list, which recognizes top physicians and hospitals across 10 specialties, including orthopaedic surgery. Dr. James Keeney and Dr. Brett Crist appear in the top 1% of orthopaedic clinician-researchers in the United States.
Top hospitals and surgeons are identified by procedural volumes, peer-reviewed publications and publication weight. Read the full methodology here. According to Avant-Gardee Health,
“The Healthcare Research All-Star Awards honor the outstanding surgeons and hospitals whose contributions to healthcare research significantly enhance the quality of patient care. The study examined the research of more than 4,000 hospitals and 90,000 surgeons and includes only the top five percent based on the quantity and quality of their published research.”
Dr. Steven DeFroda and Dr. H. Mike Kim appear on the list in the top 2-3%. Rounding out the list, Dr. Clayton Nuelle, Dr. Elie Ghanem, Dr. Mauricio Kfuri, Dr. Daniel London, and Dr. Matthew Smith appear in the 4-5% of orthopaedic surgeon researchers.
