The University of Missouri School of Medicine hosted the 2023 American Physician Scientists Regional Meeting on Friday, Feb. 17. It’s the first time MU has hosted the event.
The day-long event featured poster presentations, training sessions and keynote addresses from David Arnold, MD, Executive Director, NextGen Precision Health Initiative; and Jesus Jiminez, MD, PhD, instructor at Washington University School of Medicine. This year’s theme was translational science.
“This student-led event brings scientists from other institutions to our campus and allows us to showcase our research, recruit students and network with other researchers,” Arnold said. “It also provides an excellent opportunity for students, graduate researchers and faculty to share their great work with peers from across the region.”
At the conclusion of the event, awards were presented to students who showcased their research. MU medical student Yak Nak took home the judges’ and audience choice awards for best short talk session. Poster award honorees included MU students Eboni Acoff and Yaser Al Rawi.
