The University of Missouri School of Medicine Staff Advisory Committee recognized exemplary staff members in a hybrid awards ceremony on June 21. The awards were presented by Robin Dianics, chair of the Staff Advisory Committee, and Richard Barohn, MD, Hugh E. and Sarah D. Stephenson Dean of the MU School of Medicine.

The Outstanding Staff Award

Robin Clay, manager of the diversity and inclusion initiatives at the School of Medicine, was honored for his mentorship of medical students through admissions and student programs by receiving the Outstanding Staff Award. Nominators recognized Clay’s dedication to the school’s goal of gaining more underrepresented minority student candidates. He created an inclusivity symposium that twice a month allows prospective applicants the opportunity to learn more about the School of Medicine and meet with staff and students.

This team was nominated for exemplifying organizational values through their commitment to the welfare of all medical students. Nominators said the team works collaboratively with one another, truly supporting each member’s activities and programs. This diverse group builds inclusion through sharing personal and professional milestones while valuing and learning each person’s culture with compassion.

The Service Recognition Award

Two outgoing committee officers were thanked with the Service Recognition Award: Sheila Holder, treasurer, and Brigitte Tollett, recorder.

The Service Recognition Award honored these staff members for their profound and lasting impact on the School of Medicine Staff Advisory Committee.

“Words cannot express the gratitude that I, and your fellow advisory committee members, wish to convey,” said Dianics. “Please know that your service is recognized, appreciated, valued and cherished.”

The STAR (Special Thanks and Recognition) Award
