James Stannard, MD, has received two new appointments, effective Sept. 1. Stannard will serve as associate dean of the University of Missouri School of Medicine and will be MU Health Care’s chief medical officer for clinical strategic initiatives.
In these roles, Stannard will be responsible for the identification, development and execution of strategies to further the School of Medicine’s mission as a statewide resource and nationally recognized academic health center.
He will provide medical leadership for relationships with affiliate hospitals and medical groups. In collaboration with other MU leaders, Stannard will foster partnerships with academic institutions, medical groups and health systems. He will continue to serve in his roles as the Hansjörg Wyss distinguished chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and medical director of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute.
Stannard is a renowned expert clinician-researcher specializing in orthopaedic sports medicine, orthopaedic trauma and biological knee joint replacement. He has served as an author of more than 130 manuscripts, more than 25 book chapters and four books, and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences and societies.
