Melanie Boeyer, PhD, recently earned a candidate research fellowship status with Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). The membership is open to orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and non-physician members of allied specialties such as research scientists who have made significant contributions to Scoliosis or related deformities.
“By becoming a member of SRS I can help bridge the gap between clinical work and science,” Boeyer said. “I have a strong research skill set and a real passion for pediatric scoliosis. This society is the perfect forum for me to pursue that passion. It also allows me to highlight the unique structure we have at the MOI that allows us to improve patient care through evidence-based research. This is the premier society for my field of interest and I am honored to be a welcomed member.”
Boeyer will remain as a candidate research fellow for at least three years, during which time she will need to meet fellowship requirements and demonstrate her interest in spinal deformity. Founded in 1966, the SRS is one of the world’s premier spine societies. The society maintains a strict membership criteria to ensure individual support towards the society’s commitment to research and education in the field of spinal deformities.
Congratulations, Dr. Boeyer!
