Jonathan Williams, a Pathobiology PhD candidate with the Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics (TLRO) at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute has been named the Robert B. Gordon Arthritis Research Fellow for 2023. The fellowship is a 1-3 year program involving clinical and/or basic science research in arthritis.

“Being selected as the next Gordon Arthritis Research Fellow is both a great surprise and honor,” Williams said. “Being chosen for this fellowship has really solidified the feeling that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be, even if there were some wild curves along the way.”

Williams first joined the TLRO team as an administrative staff member in 2020 and is currently pursuing his PhD as a graduate researcher with the department. His area of research focuses on the many different biological, biomechanical, and psychological factors that influence osteochondral allograft outcomes in our patients. Looking ahead, Williams plans to perform further research on determining the most common biomechanical failure mechanisms of osteochondral allografts.

The award will be funded through the Gordon Family Endowment. Further donations to this award can be sent to the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute at the following address:
