Christopher Wilhelm, MD, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, was recently appointed by Gov. Mike Parson to the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts for a term of three years.
The state board registers, licenses and regulates all physicians and surgeons in the state. Additionally, the board is also responsible for all physical therapists, speech pathologists, audiologists, physician assistants, clinical perfusionists, physical therapy assistants, anesthesiologist assistants and athletic trainers.
Wilhelm has served as an associate professor at the School of Medicine since 2021 and treats patients at MU Health Care’s Battle Avenue Medical Clinic in Columbia. He serves as a consultant to the Veterans Law Clinic, a collaboration between the medical school and MU School of Law to assist Missouri veterans with their VA disability claims.
Wilhelm has served a firefighter with the Boone County Fire Protection District since 2022.
A retired United States Air Force Colonel, Wilhelm previously served as chief medical officer at McConnell and Whiteman Air Force bases. He holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Portland and a Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University–School of Medicine.
