Dear Colleagues,
For many people in our community, our Emergency Department (ED) is their first interaction with our health system. Our ED team works tirelessly to care for the thousands of medical emergencies that come to our ED and our partner institutions. Every now and then, these teams need a much-deserved break. I was fortunate to join a number of our ED providers and staff and their families at the Mizzou women's basketball game against Texas A&M on Jan. 23.
In attendance were Dr. Josh Stilley and Dr. Jeff Ehmke. Dr. Stilley is a leader at our ED and is the director of our Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Ehmke serves in the ED of Capital Region Medical Center, which is now fully operated by MU Health Care and our ED services led by Dr. Matt Robinson.
Joining Dr. Stilley was his wife, Julie, who is the director of research for the Department of Emergency Medicine. The clinical trials program in the ER is amazingly productive in bringing cutting edge clinical research trials to MU Health Care through the front door of the ED. They are a model for how our other clinical departments should grow their research programs. Also in attendance was Gretchen Lynch, who has the very important job of managing the business operations for the Department of Emergency Medicine, and Rebekah Hudson, director of the physician assistant fellowship program.
In addition to the great performance from our Mizzou Tigers, we were also able to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs during a big sports night.
A big "thank you" to everyone with our ED who provides the absolute best medical care for our region and state.
