Doctoral student Melanie Boeyer recently received the Gamma Alpha Gamma Dissertation Year Fellowship award. This prestigious award is intended to help defray dissertation research expenses in the same academic year a student defends their dissertation.
Boeyer is in the last year of her dissertation work and plans to graduate this Spring with a doctoral degree in Pathobiology. With guidance from her advisor (Dana Duren, PhD, Director of Orthopaedic Research), Boeyer’s research is helping to identify predictable changes in the way a child’s skeleton develops—work that will help pediatric clinicians develop informed, individualized treatment plans.
Gamma Alpha Gamma was a graduate/professional fraternity with an active chapter on the MU campus for many years. When the fraternity house was sold, influential alumni of the fraternity dedicated proceeds to support graduate education.
Congratulations, Melanie!
