Drs. James Cook and James Stannard, orthopaedic joint researchers at the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, are featured in “Joined at the hip and knees”, an article profiling their collaborative research on biological joint repair and replacement.
Stannard and Cook are researching techniques that would replace arthritic joints with organic material using functional and regenerative strategies rather than repairs with metal and plastic.
Their work on tissue preservation technology, patented as the “Mizzou Osteochondral Allograft Preservation System,” or “MOPS”, significantly increases the longevity of an allograft, leading to a better quality of life for patients.
