Dr. Youdong Gan spent the last year collaborating with Dr. Richard Ma and the TLRO team to pursue his research interest in cruciate ligaments. During his time here, Dr. Gan measured patellar height after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament with different grafts and analyzed metabolic changes.
He also learned how to culture tendon cells in animals and humans and then analyze the tissue metabolic changes under different cytokines and mechanical loads.
Dr. Gan works in the Department of Orthopaedics at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University in Qingdao, Shandong, China. In 2012, he received a PhD in Human Anatomy from Southern Medical University and then completed his post-doctoral work at Second Military Medical University in 2016.
When asked what he found most valuable from his experience, Dr. Gan said “the most valuable thing to learn is teamwork and rigorous work attitude.”
Best of luck, Dr. Gan!
