Gruner Named to National Cancer Institute Review Board

Barbara Gruner, MD, associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and pediatric hematology and oncology physician at MU Children’s Hospital, recently was selected to serve on the National Cancer Institute’s Pediatric Central Institutional Review Board.

“Members of the review board are dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of pediatric oncology patients participating in clinical trials,” said Timothy Fete, MD, chair of the MU School of Medicine’s Department of Pediarics, Children’s Miracle Network Professor in Pediatrics and medical director of MU Children’s Hospital. “I am very pleased that Dr. Gruner has been nationally recognized for her work as a physician and patient advocate.”

Gruner received her medical degree from the MU School of Medicine and is board-certified in pediatric hematology and oncology. She completed residency training at MU Health Care, and a fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
