Elizabeth Malm-Buatsi, MD, assistant professor of urology at the MU School of Medicine, has been named a 2020 Young Urologist of the Year by the American Urological Association (AUA).
The award is presented annually to nine urologists from different regions who have been in practice for 10 years or less. It recognizes their efforts to advance the development of early career urologists.
“Being the only pediatric urologist in the mid-Missouri region, it's a great honor to have such national recognition as my team and I strive to change the lives of children in Missouri for the better,” Malm-Buatsi said. “I was honored, in part, as a result of my commitment to advancing pediatric urology workforce diversity. We know that a more diverse workforce will provide access to a broader range of talented medical educators, scientists and health care providers. I am excited to be part of many ongoing efforts to meaningfully invest in inclusion, diversity and equity initiatives here and across the country.”
Malm-Buatsi will be recognized at the Young Urologists Forum on May 16, 2020, at the AUA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
