The TLRO Official Grand Opening & Benefit was a wonderful event with more than 80 attendees helping us to christen the new center and support our work.  Three areas of support were highlighted for this event:

  • Precision Materials Testing Machine  Instron E3000 – This equipment is needed to allow us to do tissue-level and cell-level biomechanical testing that is key to our unique translational modeling research.  With this machine, we can characterize the biomechanical behavior of cartilage, meniscus, ACL, rotator cuff, intervertebral disc and bone at the microscopic level so that we can understand how to augment tissue healing in patients.  $170,000
  • Advanced Imaging System   Effective nerve repair and regeneration strategies are major unmet needs and our team is dedicated to addressing this important challenge.  The Clemex image analysis system, which only a handful of labs around the world have, will allow us to perform exquisite semi-automated analyses to count the thousands of axons in even the smallest nerves, characterize the regrowth of myelin, and evaluate the ability of nerves to heal in response to our regenerative treatments.  $80,000
  • The Team It is all about the people!  The amazing team that we have been able to build and retain at Mizzou's Thompson Laboratory for Regenerative Orthopaedics is what makes it all happen. In order to keep all our superstars here and engaged in our work, our goal is to build an endowment dedicated to personnel funding and operations.  Individual endowments for these purposes start at $25,000 and our ultimate goal is to reach the $10M mark.
