Why you chose University of Missouri-Capital Region Medical Center?  I chose the Community Practice Family Medicine Program for its unopposed position in the hospital, its osteopathic history, and its welcoming and supportive environment. This program allows for residents to perform a variety of procedures that internal medicine residents or surgical residents might have priority to perform at other hospitals. This program has a strong history of osteopathic medicine, so performing OMT in the inpatient and outpatient setting is welcome, if not openly encouraged. Lastly, this program is warm and inviting, regularly scheduling small gatherings outside the hospital for residents and their families to decompress and support each other.

Why you chose Family Medicine?  Family Medicine creates physicians who are knowledgeable in all fields of medicine, and able to manage complicated pathologies. It is a challenging field of medicine, which demands life-long learning and disciplined focus, as patients entrust their Family Medicine physician to navigate the complexities of modern medicine. As a Family Medicine resident, I enjoy the unique challenge of gaining medical knowledge, and then putting it to use for the benefit of my patients and community. I have the ability to treat newborns to the elderly, and establish relationships with patients that will last many years.
Why you chose University of Missouri-Capital Region Medical Center?  The attending physicians are compassionate physicians, dedicated to their craft, and make it a point to be positive role models in medicine. There is a great deal of autonomy, which allows for real world learning, demands constant learning, and encourages residents to ask questions.
