The Office of Medical Education manages and maintains all academic records of active and former medical students. The office is responsible for the registration of medical students and the management of their academic file, which includes schedules, test scores, Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) letters and grades.

The office does not verify residency, fellowships or internships. Verification requests should be directed to the department from which the physician completed his/her training. See department contacts.

The office routinely processes requests for letters of verification of MD degree, MD verification forms and certification of medical diploma photocopies. Requests can be sent to following address or fax:

Verification Fee

There is no fee for students or state boards for verification requests. The School of Medicine is not able to take credit card payments. Please make checks payable to the University of Missouri.

Alumni MSPE Request

The MSPE document also known as the Dean’s Letter is an important and influential component of your overall residency and fellowship application. The MSPE will give the residency program a summary and more complete and comprehensive view of your time in medical school from the characteristics you have to the clinical rotations you completed. It is a required part of your application. ACGME states the MSPE is a Letter of Evaluation, not a Letter of Recommendation (LOR). The school of medicine prepares MSPEs for all students regardless of their residency application plans in accordance with the AAMC’s guidelines.

  • Submit your request.
  • Include the year you graduated.
  • Maiden name if you attended under a different name.
  • Attach a copy of your final transcript that has your MD degree posted.

Once we receive your request you will be sent your amended MSPE for your review. If you are satisfied with it you will be responsible for uploading it and your final transcript to MIDUS (Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Medical Institution Document Upload Service) for your ERAS application. If you feel the content is inaccurate, please ask us to make adjustments. There is no charge for this request.
