The OneHealth Biorepository catalogues and can provide large numbers of paraffin blocks within the Pathology Archives for common cancers.
- For those listed below we generally have 100 or more cases, often with 5 blocks per case.
- The formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue blocks have become the accepted standard in diagnosis and research for histochemistry, immunohistochemistry as well as Next Generation Sequencing for DNA & RNA.
- Such blocks are usually heavily annotated with non-protected health information, but require IRB approval to obtain the data. Such information can include not just site and diagnosis, but age, smoking/EtOH history, family history, time to recurrence and/or death if appropriate.
For other cancers which are less frequent, please contact us directly at mubiobank@missouri.edu or 573-882-3732. We may be able to help with either paraffin blocks or frozen tissue.
We have thousands of paraffin blocks containing normal tissue, and lesser amounts with lesions other than neoplasms. We also work closely with the Siteman Tissue Procurement Center of Washington University in St. Louis to procure rare biospecimens which we do not have.
If you contact us at mubiobank@missouri.edu or 573-882-3732 and give us specifics, we can usually obtain the samples you desire.
