Planning on Getting a Flu Shot and Did Not Get One Last Year?
We are currently enrolling participants in our research study to understand how different types of FDA-approved flu shot influence our body’s immune responses against the flu
You are eligible to participate if:
- Did NOT receive a flu shot last year
- Are planning to get flu shot this year; able to get flu shot (don’t have contraindications)
- Are 18 years of age or older;
- English speaking
- Willing to get a second flu shot about 3 months after your first one
- Willing to be randomized for egg-based or cell-based flu shot (FluLaval® or Flucelvax®)
What is being asked:
- Assignment to receive inactivated FluLaval® or Flucelvax® flu shot in the fall and then 3-months later
- Provide 1 blood sample BEFORE or day you get each flu shot
- Provide 3-4 blood samples over 3-6 months after getting the flu shot
- Complete baseline survey (takes about 10 mins).
- Complete follow-up surveys at each blood draw (takes about 2 mins)
- Blood samples will be collected at Hospitals/Clinics/Laboratories
- The cost of the second shot will be covered by the research study.
Participants will be sent a $20 e-gift card per blood draw, up to 8 blood draws for $160 total.
