The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine features faculty of more than 35 board certified general and fellowship trained physicians in pediatric, cardiovascular, intensive care, chronic pain and obstetrical anesthesiology. Our faculty is committed to ensuring our patients receive the most advanced anesthesia care and excellent training for our resident physicians and medical students.
Our faculty, residents and CRNAs provide anesthesia services in over 48 anesthetizing locations all located in Columbia, Missouri. The University Hospital houses our level 1 trauma center and advanced general, cardiac, and neurosurgical cases. Our Birthing Center is the only high-risk obstetrical hospital in the region allowing us to care for mothers or neonates with conditions or complications of pregnancy that are beyond the resources of most hospitals. The Children's Hospital provides comprehensive multi-specialty surgical pediatric cases that complements the services provided by our high-risk Birthing Center. The Missouri Orthopaedic Institute provides a fantastic opportunity to learn and hone regional and acute pain procedures for our residents, and the Keene Street outpatient surgery center exposes our trainees to high volume outpatient cases. These amazing facilities provide more than ample educational opportunities and cases for our resident rotation requirements to be completed in Columbia. Our medical students and residents receive world class simulation training as well as the opportunity to become involved in a variety of clinical research projects.
The Department of Anesthesiology continues to support and redefine our services to meet the expansion of MU Health Care as we continue to open new avenues of patient care and educational opportunities.
