Currently enjoying a period of profound growth and expansion, the department's physicians and scientists are among the world's experts in treating and studying a variety of neurological diseases and disorders that affect adults and children.
Our patients receive comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, interventional and acute, chronic cerebrovascular disease, movement disorders, behavioral neurology, neurological intensive critical care, headache, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and pain medicine. The department's facilities include a level 1 (highest designation) acute stroke center, state-of-the-art clinical neurophysiology labs, and a fully accredited sleep disorders center.
Our academic programs educate students, residents and fellows in clinical neurology and neuroscience. Students and physicians in training also join faculty members in conducting research, often in partnership with some of the many other scientists throughout the University of Missouri.
The MU Department of Neurology is committed to providing the best care to patients, the best educational opportunities for trainees at all levels, and the best science for saving and improving lives.
