In addition to clinical practice, our faculty, residents and medical students participate in research leading to innovative treatment and management techniques for disorders encountered in the practice of otolaryngology – head and neck surgery.

Our faculty has expertise in all areas of otolaryngology - head and neck surgery, including head and neck oncology, otology and neurotology, pediatric otolaryngology, laryngology, allergy and rhinology, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. We have three clinic locations: ENT and Allergy Center of Missouri MU ENT Hearing & Balance Center; Columbia ENT, and Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. Surgical cases are performed at University Hospital, Women’s Hospital, the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute, and a private practice outpatient surgery center. The Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital, located across the street from University Hospital, provides another location for otolaryngologic medical and surgical training with chief resident leadership for our Veterans under faculty supervision. All of these clinical locations are within a five-mile radius which leads to less time spent commuting and more time devoted to the practice of medicine. We’re proud to be changing the lives of our patients each and every day.

In addition to patient care, the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the MU School of Medicine has ongoing research endeavors where both faculty, residents and medical students work together to investigate problems and questions through IRB approved research projects.
