Surgeons at University Hospital performed the first open-heart procedure in mid-Missouri in 1958. Since that time, the hospital has become well-known as one of the state’s most active and respected cardiovascular referral centers.
Our vascular surgeons perform more than 800 operations each year, reflecting the current model of combining the disciplines of open surgical cases and endovascular procedures.
A multidisciplinary team provides patient care, education and resident training, including an ACGME-approved two-year fellowship in vascular surgery. Faculty members are also active in both clinical and basic science research. The vascular team at the University of Missouri Health Care provides the unparalleled benefits of a truly advanced academic arena with a new state-of-the-art hybrid operating room suite allowing for the most advanced endovascular procedure to be performed safely and efficiently.
