Are you pregnant and interested in prenatal yoga?

pregnant in gym class

Researchers at the University of Missouri School of Medicine invite you to participate in a research study that examines how well the Prenatal Yoga and Birth Education program meets the needs of participants in a primary care setting. Participants will be asked to attend six sessions mindfulness-based yoga and birth education and complete pre- and post-course surveys.

We are looking for:

  • Individuals between 14 and 32 weeks pregnant when the course begins.
  • Able to attend all six sessions, either in person or online.
  • Access to the internet for completing pre- and post-course surveys.
  • A patient of University of Missouri Health Care.

The six-week series includes weekly sessions covering essential topics, such as building resilience through mindfulness, understanding trust and control during pregnancy, coping with fears related to childbirth, preparing for the transition to parenthood, and recognizing the importance of support for perinatal mood and anxiety concerns. There is no cost to participate.

The pilot study is in progress, and the upcoming session runs from April 3 to May 8, with classes held weekly on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Space is limited to 12 participants. Participants will be compensated $20 for each survey (pre- and post-course) or post-interview they complete.

If you are interested in learning more about this study or want to participate, provide us with some basic information in the body of the email to Shannon Canfield at prenatalwellness@missouri.edu
