Faculty and fellows have access to a variety of cancer related conferences: Guests are not allowed at certain conferences due to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.

Weekly Conferences

  • Monday
    • 8 - 9 a.m. : Hematology/pathology conference located in PT2107
      Hematology Conference, led by the program director and a member of the hematopathology staff. The fellows and faculty present interesting patients and the peripheral blood, lymph node and bone marrows are displayed while research methods and topics are discussed.
  • Tuesday
    • 1st Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m.: Case Review, problem-based cases with Dr. Doll PT2107
    • 2nd Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m.: lymphomas with Dr. Doll in PT2107
    • 3rd Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m.: Journal Club
    • 4th Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m.: Research Conference in PT 2107
      Discussion and presentation of fellow and faculty current research as well as some didactic presentation on basics of research construction, follow-through and presentation, as well as discussion of ongoing clinical protocols. Every 4th month will be the fellowship QI & Safety Meeting in place of the Research Conference.
    • 5th Tuesday of the month – additional case reviews in T2107
    • 7:00-8:00 a.m. in MA316 is the ENT Multi-D Conference
    • Every first and third Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at Women’s Hospital is the OB/GYN Multi-D Conference
    • Thoracic (Lung) every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 5-6 p.m. in PT2107
    • MD Anderson will also present frequent teleconferences from 7-8 a.m. in PT 2107
  • Wednesday
    • 8 - 9 a.m.: Multi-D Conference by the Cancer Center located in PT2107
      Disciplinary conference presents on average five to ten cases per week. The cases are discussed in a multidisciplinary approach with all specialties available (hematology/oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic radiology, pathology) and appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations are made.
  • Thursday
    • 8 - 9 a.m.: Core Didactic in PT2107
      Fellow and faculty presentations involve didactic lectures related to hem/onc topics.
    • 2nd Thursday from 7-8 a.m.: Urology Tumor Board
    • 3rd Thursday from 8–9 a.m.: Oncology Grand Rounds in PT 2107
      On this day the regular didactic lecture will move from 8-9 a.m. to 7-8 a.m.
    • Noon–1 p.m. is the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds Presentation that occurs in ACUFF
  • Friday
    • 7 - 8 a.m.: Cancer Center’s Breast Multi D in PT2107
    • 8 - 9 a.m.: Board Review Conference in PT2107
      ASCO and ASH SAP, plus fellows will present consults or other interesting cases, followed by new patient discussion.
    • Every other week 7:45 – 8:45 a.m.: Musculoskeletal (MSK) Multi D in MOI 4th floor conference room

Annual Conferences

  • Throughout the course of training, each fellow is expected to attend regional and national scientific meetings and conferences, particularly the Cancer and Leukemia Group B meetings and the American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Society of Hematology national meetings.
