Your obstetrics and gynecology experience will consist of eight weeks. This rotation is organized so that you will spend four weeks on the obstetric service and two weeks each on the gynecology service and the gynecologic oncology service.
Your time will be divided between the wards, clinics, OR, L & D and didactic sessions. In addition to your inpatient experience, outpatient clinical care will be a part of your education.
On the last Thursday of the rotation (unless otherwise scheduled) a National Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Exam will be given.
The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) will be given on the last Thursday and Friday of the rotation (unless otherwise scheduled). There will be two questions on Thursday and two questions on Friday. This exam assesses clinical skills you acquired during the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clerkship rotation.
During your eight week clerkship the department will provide you with the following reading material:
- Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Medical Student Educational Objectives
- Beckmann’s Obstetrics and Gynecology
You will also have access to various other books in the OB/Gyn Library.
