The Physician Engineers Pre-Admission Program encourages and supports students with an undergraduate major in the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia or the College of Engineering and Computing at the Missouri University of Science and Technology as they pursue a degree in medicine.

Inspired by the rapid evolution of innovation and medical technology, the Physician Engineers Pre-Admission Program will train the next generation physician workforce to become patient-centered physicians who lead teams capable of responding to complex health care challenges with an engineering and translational medicine approach that improves health and patient outcomes.

Undergraduate students are invited to apply to the program during second semester of sophomore year. Accepted students will receive provisional acceptance to the University of Missouri School of Medicine pending they maintain certain academic standards, demonstrate ongoing professionalism and participate in the required activities prior to medical school matriculation. Students who successfully matriculate into the School of Medicine will participate in an engineering co-curriculum and have additional requirements to complete while obtaining their medical degree.

Physician Engineers Eligibility Requirements

Students accepted into the Physician Engineers Pre-Admissions Program are offered provisional acceptance into a particular entering class of the University of Missouri School of Medicine, conditional upon their achieving certain academic standards, demonstrating ongoing professional conduct and participation in required activities. Early or late matriculation is not allowed.
