Clinical Experience
Multidisciplinary Rotations
Fellows regularly train alongside leaders in PM&R sports medicine, subspecialty orthopedic surgery, and other primary care sports medicine physicians. Other related physician leaders are available as learning resources including: physical therapy, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, cardiology, psychology, and various PhD researchers. Core faculty includes:

Procedural Breadth
During fellowship, fellows are expected to perform:
- >500 ultrasound-guided injections (including PRP, BMC, HA, corticosteroids, anesthetics)
- >50 bone marrow aspirations
- Several lipoaspirations
- >200 diagnostic ultrasound examinations, spanning all major joints and tendons
Sports Coverage & Sideline Medicine
Fellows have the opportunity to participate on the following sports medicine teams, at whatever level is preferred, but with the chance to join for PPE, training room, and coverage experiences.

Academic & Research Opportunities
Teaching
Fellows supervise and instruct residents, medical students, and allied health professionals in:
- MSK ultrasound scanning
- Ultrasound-guided procedures
- Case-based sports medicine decision-making
They also lead the KC Sports Medicine Fellows Case Conference, a combined effort with 8 fellows from the 7 orthopedic and sports medicine fellowships in Kansas City. In this weekly academic meeting, we invite local and national leaders in sports medicine to discuss high-yield cases with the fellows.
There is opportunity to join and present at any in-person or virtual didactics of the other 6 local sports medicine fellowships.
Research Productivity
Fellows contribute to high-impact publications in regenerative medicine, ultrasound-guided techniques, and sports injury management. Original research, first author, research mentorship, and podium presentation opportunities exist.
