Student Role
Medical students play a prominent role in the accreditation process.
Ahead of the LCME site visit next April, students will conduct the required Independent Student Analysis (ISA). The ISA consists of the creation and dissemination of a student opinion survey and the development of the ISA report that includes the survey results and an analysis and interpretation of responses.
Students from all years are involved designing and conducting the survey, analyzing response data and preparing the data tables and the narrative of the ISA report.
During the site visit, members of the LCME survey team will inspect educational and student facilities on the main campus, the Springfield Clinical campus, and tour our hospital, with students serving as guides for many of these tours. This provides an opportunity for informal discussions about the program.

Faculty Role
Faculty Accreditation Lead (FAL)
Nathan Beucke, MD
The FAL should be a senior faculty member who may also hold an administrative position and who is knowledgeable about the medical school and its educational program and familiar with the meaning and interpretation of the LCME accreditation elements. This individual may previously have served as an LCME faculty fellow, a role that allows the individual to participate in a survey visit.
The FAL has a wide variety of responsibilities related to the self-study and survey visit processes, including ensuing accurate and complete preparation of the DCI, coordinating the activities of the self-study task force, and ensuring that the self-study summary report is competed on schedule.
