Educators at the University of Missouri School of Medicine have many opportunities to have their work recognized through awards sponsored by the school.

Jane Hickman Teaching Award

The Jane Hickman Teaching Award is historically the highest recognition of excellence in medical student teaching at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.

The Hickman endowment charges the Dean of the School of Medicine with responsibility for the management of the fund. The Dean has charged the Senior Associate Dean for Education to oversee the administration of the award. The goal is to reward faculty members who have made sustained outstanding contributions to medical student education at MU. The award may or may not be given out each year. A faculty member may be nominated multiple times, but may receive the award only once. (New materials must be submitted each time a faculty member is nominated.)

The Jane Hickman Teaching Award Committee is chaired by the Senior Associate Dean for Education.
