The Summer Program Assistant will support the online learning environment in Canvas for MedPrep II and Medical Explorations. The position requires an energetic, warm, and personable individual who will help build community, provide guidance to students, facilitate conversations, and actively engage with participants through VoiceThread, discussion boards, announcements, and virtual social hours within Canvas and Zoom.
The assistant will also contribute new ideas to enhance program content, activities, and student engagement. The assistant will be expected to attend and support all virtual and in-person program events and perform other duties as assigned.
As the Summer Program Assistant role continues to grow, this position may also support additional in-person summer bridge or pathway programming for incoming college students, including assisting with enrichment activities, academic support, and student engagement on campus.
MedPrep II
- Online: May 18 - June 5
- In-person Session: May 29
Online Presence for MedPrep II
- Virtual Social Hours (4) – 1 hour each to discuss the weekly topics. Invite medical students for Q&A.
- Invite/Confirm Virtual Social Hour speakers
- VoiceThread – Weekly engagement activity, can also use for discussion
- Discussion Board – Weekly response to the weekly topic
- Follow-up announcements and reminders – Send announcements about upcoming information and reminders to students

Medical Explorations
- Online: June 1 - 13
- In-person Session: June 13
Online presence for Medical Explorations
- Virtual Social Hours (3) – a forty-minute Q&A with healthcare professionals, students, etc.
- Skills Labs (2) – occurs after the virtual social hour for forty-minutes as a breakout session and there will be two, twenty-minute interactive interdisciplinary labs
- Online Group Project – Provide suggestions and advice to groups about their projects
- VoiceThread – Weekly engagement activity, can also use for discussion
- Discussion Board – Weekly response to the weekly topic
- Follow-up announcements and reminders – Send announcements about upcoming information and reminders to students
