The Mini Medical School Counselor summer program gives MU medical students the opportunity to engage with high school students throughout the state of Missouri who are interested in careers in medicine.
If you are a high school student looking for information about High School Mini Medical School, visit the Mini Medical School page.
Every summer, the School of Medicine hosts High School Mini Medical School, a summer experience where rising high school seniors attend lectures and participate in patient-based learning, meet with physicians and basic science faculty, learn about medical school admissions and financial aid, and get medical students’ perspectives of medical school. The week-long program is offered twice during the summer.
Session I: June 2 - 6, 2024
Session II: June 9 - 13, 2024
Seven to eight rising second-year MU medical school students serve as planners, lecturers, patient-based learning authors and facilitators, and counselors for both one-week sessions. This experience requires staying in the residence hall with the students and a few days of prep-work before session I. The stipend is $2,250.
If the MU campus does not allow for camps due to the pandemic, alternate duties will be assigned to those students hired to work Mini-Med.
