Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or PM&R, is the area of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of neurologic, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary and other disorders that may produce temporary or permanent impairment and associated functional disability.
With a wide range of patient populations from athletes to geriatrics to pediatrics, PMR allows residents to sub-specialize in brain injury medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, neuromuscular medicine, pain medicine, pediatric rehabilitation medicine, spinal cord injury medicine and/or sports medicine.
