James Dawson

James Dawson

Bio

Bio: James Dawson, PSF, was born in Panama and grew up for most of his life in Texas. He graduated from Flour Bluff High School, in Corpus Christi, Texas, then earned a degree from University of Texas at San Antonio, in Medical Humanities. He began medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine of A T Still University in 2019, and after his first two years of medical school he opted to take a year as a Post-Sophomore Fellow at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.  . James would eventually like to teach, while practicing medicine. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, climbing, and reading.

Caitlyn Smith

Caitlyn Smith

Bio

Bio: Caitlyn Smith, PSF, was born and raised in Chesterfield, MO. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry at the University of Missouri. Her undergraduate research projects focused on studying the biomechanical properties of the lower temporal bone in mallard ducks and the evaluation of initial outcomes and cost-effectiveness following arthroplasty versus osteochondral allograft transplantation of the ankle. She entered the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 2019. During the summer of 2020, she pursued research focused on thoracolumbar injury classification in the clinical outcomes of operative and non-operative treatments. After completing the Post-Sophomore Fellowship in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, she will continue her medical training in Columbia. In her free time, she enjoys running, cycling, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

 

Paul Stegelmeier

Paul Stegelmeier

Bio

Bio: Paul Stegelmeier, PSF, grew up in Dayton, Idaho where he graduated from West Side High School. After high school he served for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Botswana and South Africa. After his mission he studied and graduated with honors from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a major in Human Biology. During his college years Paul had several research internships including one at Boise State University where he studied the molecular mechanisms of liver fibrosis. Paul’s interests in pathology began much earlier as he assisted his father who is a veterinary pathologist in doing research and diagnostic studies. Not only did he learn autopsy skills, but it also led him to a passion for learning and understanding disease pathogenesis. In 2019, Paul began medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine of A.T. Still University. He is taking a year between his second and third years of medical school to completing a Post-Sophomore Fellowship in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Paul has many hobbies and passions including mountain biking, nearly all gym sports and weight training, hunting, and fishing.

 

McKenzie Wallace

McKenzie Wallace

Bio

Bio: Kenzie Wallace, PSF, grew up in Maryville, MO and began her undergraduate education at Colgate University in Upstate New York before transferring to Creighton University to complete a bachelor’s degree in Cellular Neuroscience. Before medical school, she spent a few years working with children on the autism spectrum as a behavioral therapist and working in an adaptive sports rehabilitation program for patients with traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries. She attends medical school at Mizzou, which she will complete following her Post Sophomore Fellowship. In her free time, Kenzie enjoys playing with her two dogs (Bolt and Sam), baking, and pyrography. She also enjoys weight lifting, running, and recently began doing triathlons.
