Bio: Busha Hika was born and raised in a small village in the western part of Ethiopia. He moved to Worthington, Minnesota, about seven years ago, where he joined the Army National Guard as Cannon Crew Member and served for five years. He attended South Dakota State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry. His undergraduate research was focused on the influenza D virus. He was also involved in the Prairie Doc® Assistantship, where he helped with answering viewers’ calls during On Call with the Prairie Doc®, an hour live medical questions program aired on South Dakota Public Television. Busha was accepted into the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 2018. After completing the Post-Sophomore Fellowship in the Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences, he will continue his clinical medical training in Columbia. Busha enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with friends. He also enjoys watching the English Premier League, and he is a Manchester United fan.

Bio: Catherine Turner is from Florissant, MO and graduated high school at Incarnate Word Academy. She spent the next 4 years at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, studying biology and French. During her undergraduate years, she studied in Angers, France, participated in campus ministry groups, and Insignis Honors College. She went on to pursue a MS in Health Sciences from West Virginia University in Morgantown. She began her medical training at Mizzou in 2018, and during Summer 2019 pursued research pertaining to Changes in Renal Function Associated with Western Diets. She will continue medical school after her Post Sophomore Fellowship. In her free time, she enjoys trying new recipes, hanging out with her cat and dog (Remy and Winifred, respectively), and reading outdoors.

Hometown: Barnhart, Missouri

Bio: Franklin Woode was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, and grew up in the nearby town of Barnhart. He attended Windsor High School in Imperial, Missouri, and received his bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. Currently, he is taking a year between his second and third years of medical school at the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Medicine to explore the field of pathology as a post-sophomore fellow. His interest in pathology is derived from his love of teaching. He spent several years as a math and science tutor at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, and always enjoyed working with his students to help them better understand their curricula. He believes pathology is a profession that will also afford him the opportunity to work with patients, family members, and other health professionals to help them better understand the patient’s health. In his free time, Frankie enjoys practicing his guitar, cycling, jogging, cooking, and taking long walks around Columbia’s parks.
