During 12 months of intensive Urgent Care training, PA/FNP Fellows will rotate in two Urgent Care locations, two Emergency Medicine locations with experiences including pediatrics and Fast Track, and have off-service rotations for a well-rounded educational focus to enhance knowledge necessary for a broad understanding in Urgent Care medicine.

Urgent Care will have special focus on:

  • 2 week Boot Camp with orientation, faculty lectures, SIM labs and high-yield specialty topics to prepare fellows prior to starting the program
  • Access to Hippo Urgent Care Bootcamp & exam
  • Direct bedside teaching by UC Physicians, Peds/adult EM physicians and APPs
  • Initial staffing on learner schedule with progression to more autonomy the last 6 months 
  • Participation in weekly didactic EM Conference with EM residents, led by board-certified EM Faculty & guest lectures
  • Monthly SIM cases and quarterly Journal Club
  • Chart review with feedback
  • Monthly Procedure tracking for standard UC procedures
  • Participation in research projects
  • Case write-up and Quality Improvement project
  • Attendance at SEMPA Conference
  • ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications
