The University of Missouri Pediatric Residency offers a Health Informatics Resident-Scholar position for one resident per year in addition to the seven annual categorical pediatric residency positions in our program. This position will prepare the resident for Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) positions, executive positions with electronic health record companies, academic and private practice pediatrics, and other health informatics careers after graduation.

The unique aspect of the Resident-Scholar position is the integration of the MU Executive Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) throughout the course of pediatric residency training. The Executive Master’s program utilizes predominately online and self-study education in addition to in-person instruction for one weekend per month. The pediatric training curriculum will be adjusted to accommodate the MSHI coursework for the Resident-Scholars while still meeting all ACGME rotation training requirements for pediatric residency in 36 months (see sample schedule below). The program will consider the master’s degree coursework as part of duty hours.

How to Apply

The Resident-Scholar track is a unique NRMP position offered by the University of Missouri Pediatrics Residency program. Those interested in the position should first contact the Program Director Aneesh Tosh, MD, MS before applying through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
